Platinum Producers Series: At first glance, Gene Lennon might appear an unlikely developer of digital products. He continues to use a large format Neve console and a room full of classic analog outboard gear in his New York area production studio. But Gene's digital roots go deep. In 1979 (before the CD was launched), he was Head Engineer at the first all digital mutli-track studio in NY, using the areas first full digital system, a 32-track recorder, mixdown and editing system built by the 3M corporation. Even prior to that he was involved in experimental 2-track digital recordings featured in what wast the foremost national hi-fi periodical at the time, Audio Magazine. He went on to beta test for the pre-release of Sound Tools, the predecessor to Pro Tools, and has worked with several other digital developers over the years. Gene has fully embraced Nebula, first as a user and later as a developer. He is currently focused on high-end reverb systems, but with a large selection of classic hardware to choose from, his intentions are to extend his offerings in the near future.
Producers Reverb Set A: Gene's first release is from a well loved hardware reverb. The presets are largely his own, used in the mixing and production of many nationally acclaimed artists, including Billboard Number 1 rankings, Platinum certified albums and Grammy nominations.
Background: Gene started as a studio musician and arranger who also fell in love with the world behind the glass. He worked in several NY area studios as an engineer, including at the Warner Brothers studios in Rockefeller Center. In the early 80's Gene was given a full staff songwriters contract by MCA Music, along with co-writer Joshua Thompson, which led to major label production work. He's publishing company is an imprint of MCA Music, and many of he's songs have been covered by national artists. He also has Platinum Album credits, top 10 ASCAP Writer credits, a Grammy Nomination, etc. Gene continues to write, produce, engineer and develop new artists. A small sampling of artists Gene has worked with in the studio include: Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Joe, Stanley Jordan, Van Morrison, Freddie Jackson, Richard Bona, Michael Brecker, Hubert Laws, Surface, etc. Gene is fully committed to bringing the same level of quality to his newest endeavor, producing high-end tools for musicians, as he has to all other projects, past and present.
